Tenants & workspaces
A tenant is an isolated environment in LeanSignal: its own URL
(<short-name>.leansignal.io), its own application backend, and its own
telemetry storage. Nothing is shared between tenants — see
Security & data residency. Tenants are created and
managed in the LeanSignal control center at
cc.leansignal.io; day-to-day work happens in each
tenant’s own app.
Create a tenant
Section titled “Create a tenant”After creating and confirming your account, you are taken to Set up your tenant. First-time users also create their organisation — tenants belong to an organisation, and you become its admin:
- Organisation name (unique, up to 54 characters) and type (individual, company, government agency, research institute, educational institution, or other).
Then the tenant itself:
- Short name — lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, 3–20 characters.
Choose carefully: it forms your tenant’s URL
(
https://<short-name>.leansignal.io) and cannot be renamed later. - Display name and description — optional, cosmetic.
- Authentication methods — which sign-in options your tenant’s users get: email + password, Google, GitHub, or your own OIDC single sign-on (see Accounts & authentication). Choose deliberately: a tenant’s sign-in methods cannot currently be changed after creation.
Press Create tenant and watch it deploy — provisioning usually takes less than ten seconds, and you are redirected into your new tenant automatically. Capacity is operator-managed; if no environment is available at that moment, you’ll be asked to try again later.
The three-tenant limit
Section titled “The three-tenant limit”An organisation can own up to three tenants. The same ceiling applies per person: one account can be the admin of at most three tenants — creating a tenant and being promoted to admin both count toward it. Editor and viewer memberships are not limited. To go beyond three, delete a tenant you no longer need first.
The tenants dashboard
Section titled “The tenants dashboard”cc.leansignal.io/tenants lists every tenant you belong to, with your role in each (admin, editor, or viewer):
- Manage members — see the tenant’s members, add existing accounts, and review roles. Inviting new people by email is usually done inside the tenant app instead (see Manage users).
- Delete (tenant admins only) — permanently removes the tenant and everything in it. There is no undo, so export any demand bundles you want to keep first.
To open a tenant, go to its URL — https://<short-name>.leansignal.io.
Workspaces: belonging to several tenants
Section titled “Workspaces: belonging to several tenants”One account can be a member of many tenants, with a different role in each. Membership comes from two directions: tenants you created (you’re their admin), and tenants you were invited to. The tenant app shows all your memberships as Workspaces under Preferences, and signing in to any tenant you belong to needs no separate login — one control-center session serves them all.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Accounts & authentication — registration, sign-in methods, SSO.
- Manage users — roles and invitations inside a tenant.
- Getting started — from a fresh tenant to first metrics.
